There are many problems related to environment and it is of crucial importance to raise awareness of them. That is why for many of these issues there has been created a special date to bring international attention, interest and concern on it. The aim is to increase the cooperation in an international level through events that can bring cohesion and solidarity among people.

You may know many of these "international days" and you may even celebrate them with your organization and friends. But probably there are many others which you don't know yet.

On March 21st, we celebrated the World Forest Day. In 2011 it was particularly important since it was announced the International Year of Forests. This day commemorates the contribution and value of forests and forestry to the community.

22nd of April was the Earth Day. This is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. To celebrate this day, YEE took part in the event organized in the eco-center Toulcuv Dvur in Prague, promoting its activities and projects and participating in the workshops run by other organizations.

On August 12th, the International Youth Day took place. Its aim is to highlight the importance of providing young women and men with opportunities and protect their right for dignity, development and decent work.

The World Water Monitoring Day took place on the 18th of September. It is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies. As every year, YEE office team celebrated this day by analyzing the water in some places nearby Prague.

22nd of September was the World Car-Free Day. It is a day for people to leave their cars in the garage and remember that they shouldn't accept a society dominated by cars.

Next 5th of December we will celebrate the International Volunteer Day, with the main purpose of raising public awareness on volunteers' contribution to society.
