There are many ways to be more sustainable and reduce the negative impacts on the Environment.I found out one way which is very good, easy and profitable. It mixes permaculture, upcyling, environmental education, food sovereignty and more. All this with a small activity: to grow your own vegetables at home.

One of the goals in my EVS project is to get involved in Czech society. To know their traditions and enjoy the culture.
Mikulas is a Christian Czech tradition celebrated on 5th of December. It has similarities to Santa Claus. Mikulas gives presents to the kids who have been good during the year. There is also a Čert (devil) who goes together with Mikulas scaring "bad" kids.

There is a tradition in YEE. EVS volunteers can organize a volunteering action in Toulcuv Dvur with Tamjden. It is a Czech NGO that organizes volunteering services during weekends. It gives the opportunity to the Czechs and foreigners to meet; and to spend weekends doing outdoor activities.

It was International Volunteer Day on 5 December this year. To celebrate, our friends at INEX organised an NGO market in Prague. We were invited to represent YEE and promote the network among local students. We were also invited to taste delicious morsels of free food prepared by our international amigos. Somebody made a particularly tasty chocolate mousse that I hope reappears one day.

Environmental problems are a global issue but there is a way to act local and impact in a global way.
